Lasting Power of Attorney

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document used during your lifetime allowing you to appoint someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you are unable to. This could be due to illness, injury or simply because you need support making decisions.

It is important to choose someone you trust to act as your attorney. Anyone over 18 can be an attorney but you should choose someone you are confident will act in your best interests. An LPA is an important tool for protecting your rights and ensuring that the decisions made on your behalf reflect your wishes. It can provide peace of mind knowing that someone is there to take care of things if needed.

There are 2 types of LPAs: one for Property/Finance and one for Health/Welfare. You can make both documents or just one, depending on your circumstances and wishes. Each document works independently, you can choose how and when they are used.
